Ismo Haavisto & Andres Roots (FIN/EST)
Ismo Haavisto is a Finnish singer, harmonica player, guitarist and songwriter who represented Finland at the 2012 European Blues Challenge in Berlin, Germany and at the 2013 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. Haavisto has been playing the blues for 30 years; his seventh album "Mean Blue Train" was released in September 2014.
Andres Roots is an Estonian slide guitarist and songwriter, five-time winner of the Best European Blues Album of The Year award from Canada's Blues Underground Network, whose music has received airplay on five continents. Roots has been playing the blues for 20 years; his latest LP "Roots Music" topped the album charts in Estonia in April 2016.
In 2013, Ismo Haavisto and Andres Roots teamed up to celebrate Muddy Waters' 100th birthday with a series of shows and a tribute single; what was supposed to be two weeks of gigs blossomed into two years of successful touring in Finland, Estonia and Latvia. While both men lead their own bands in their respective countries, Haavisto and Roots have kept collaborating, most recently on the "Bottleneck Guitar Trendsetters of the 2010's" tour with the LA-based American guitarist Jim Roberts earlier this year.
